FAQ:

Can I join ISTMS?

Despite what shape you are in, or when the last time you swam – if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and know how to swim all 4 strokes, anyone can join the ISTMS workout group. We welcome fitness gurus, open water swimmers, former competitive swimmers, and triathletes.

What if I’m not a very good swimmer?

It does not matter if you are good, fast or feel like you would sink to the bottom. The whole point of our program is to challenge yourself to be the best you. Swimming creates a healthy body and mind leading you to reaching your personal goals. There is no other fitness activity that is better for you than swimming.

What if I can only swim freestyle?

ISTMS prefers you know how to swim all 4 strokes, but it is not required. We do require you know how to swim. This is not a “learn to swim” program, but we can help you get stronger in all four strokes.

Do I have to compete in any masters meets?

No, this is purely for fitness and recreation. That does not mean ISTMS will not participate in the Pacific Northwest Masters Association regional meets. Puget Sound Masters has several sanctioned competitions throughout the year and every year PSM is a top 5 contender as a regional team at the United States Masters National Championships. Competition will be available to those that want to get their race on!

What do I need to do?

In normal times, you can try a free workout, just contact Coach Darla at [email protected] so we can expect you and welcome you to the group.
